Here in Jacksonville, FL ... we're around $3.79 for Premium at Top Tier stations. Some a little more. Some a little less. Depends on what part of town you're in.

I remember paying over $4.00 per gallon for Premium back in the summer of 2008. And my '05 GTO tended to be a little thirsty.

That's cool keeping track like that.
Regular has been hanging in the $2.89 area here but I don't have any cars that use that. When it comes to mid-grade for my R/T the jumps are really different at stations, but generally about 40 cents higher, then another 40 cents higher for premium. I still remember stopping at a Sunoco last year in TN where the jump from regular to mid grade was 90 cents!! You really have to be careful and shop around.

The 94 octane price in greater Vancouver BC, Canada is about $7.50 canadian per US gallon (3.78 litres) Chevron. Our premium is generally considered 91 octane which is currently about $7.21 per US gallon. Border reopening can't come soon enough for me! PS There are a lot of Hellcat's amongst other gas guzzlers available on the used market here (and the asking prices are not at a discount)!

    Funny,
while we were in Australia, I never noticed the price of fuel.
Guess it's the difference between Vacation and WORK
Our Visa Card just auto converted it for us.

Melbourne is currently reporting Gasoline (1 gallon) 5.13A$

Also never noticed how CLOSE the Canada vs Australian conversion rate to US is:

Its been between 3.05 and 3.15 for weeks here in NW Ohio. Its not that bad IMO, but if it starts inching closer to $4 and stays there I may have to reconsider my plans of getting a Challenger. It sucks you are supposed to put premium in it too. I wonder if it is really a necessity though? My Mustang GT is supposed to get Premium, but I might have put it in once or twice in the 5 years I've had it and never had a problem using regular. I've never heard any knock or anything.

With modern engines, you will not hear a knock if you use lower octane gasoline. That's because the PCU retards the timing to protect the engine. Because of this, an engine will lose power. If you have a high performance car, you do not want this to happen.

I agree that $4 per gallon sucks. However, if you have an 18-gallon tank, and premium is $.20 more per gallon, we are only talking about an additional $3.60 every fill-up.

To save money, the real key is miles per gallon. My 2009 SRT (6.1) gets 18 mpg (premium) on the highway. If I have to go on a long trip, I use my wife''s 2020 Hyundai Elantra. Its 2.0 4-cylinder engine gets 39 mpg. Quite a difference.

I don't see it that way.

I had just put my 426 HEMI (dual ABF's) in my daily driver '70 challenger back when gas hit $1/gal

Now gas is hitting $4/gal, and I am getting 24+ MPG at 70-80MPH with over 400 HP
(19-21 MPG combined in-town and Highway)

I enjoy driving my SRT Challenger
& I would not be caught dead in a Tin Can that weighs 1/2 to save a little on GAS

    Just My $0.02
