I chose larger wheels and tires over lowering.

I lowered mine right after I got it in 2012 with SRT shocks and springs. the front ends on these are basically non alignable. after the install, my front end alignment specs were right at max. so basically it really needed to be aligned. I had adjustable upper control arms installed and now it is right on the money.

    Great article, Tom.

I lowered my 2011 Challenger R/T Classic using Mopar Stage 1 springs. I even paid a little more to have the work done at a Dodge dealership. They said they got the alignment right on the edge of "green."

Well ... the ride was "close" to stock, but not quite as comfortable. The handling improved "some." AND ... I wore out a set of tires in about 10,000 miles. I was really questioning my decision. Yes, the car looked good ... but at a price.

When I took it to my favorite independent tire/alignment shop, they found that the car was out of alignment at all four corners. Being "penny wise and pound foolish" I told them to get it as close as they could. And ... after wearing out two more tires, I finally developed a plan to fix the issue.

I used Eibach control arms to solve the problem with the front alignment and Eibach adjustable bushings to solve the problem with the rear alignment. WOW! what a difference. That put the alignment at all four corners squarely in the green. And now that the new tires were carrying the load across their entire surface instead of just the edge, the ride was every bit as good as when the car was stock.

Here's what the car looked like the day I bought it in 2013 ... when it was stock

And here's what it looked like after it was lowered and the alignment issues solved.

I've only hit bad once but I'm careful with speed bumps and such, but inclined driveways are the worst my front end hits if the incline is too much, but it handles great and the shop never mentioned it was hard to get aligned I'm happy looks nascar
