Not very effective. One of the easy ways to defeat the Club is to spray freon in the lock and strike it hard with a hammer. Another way is to just cut the steering wheel.

It's just another level of deterrence. Not many thieves carry saws and hammers with them, never mind freon. EVERYTHING can be defeated as I said before but each step an owner takes is one step better than nothing.
For $20 or whatever I paid for this thing years ago, it's been worth it to me. Who knows what this simple device has prevented. Maybe nothing but maybe it did discourage a scumbag or two over the many years in my many different cars.

Agree, but they'd have to REALLY want your specific car to be carrying tools like a Sawzaw, hacksaw, hammer and/or freon. The hope is to make the thieves not want to even try.

^^^ Interesting. I haven't seen that item before. Again, just one more deterrent for a thief.

    Here's an appropriate joke.

    Going to Church in Detroit

When I heard Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson were guest preachers at a nearby church, I decided to go there and check them out in person.

As soon as I sat down, Reverend Sharpton came over to me.

I don't know why, maybe it was because I was the only white person in the church?

He laid his hands on my shoulder and said: "By the will of Jesus the Lord Almighty, and the will of God, you will walk today”.

I told him I was not paralyzed.

Then Jesse Jackson came by and said: "By the Grace of God, and his Son Jesus, the Lord Almighty, you will walk today."

Again, I said that there is nothing wrong with me.

After the sermon I stepped outside and lo and behold they were right...

    My car was gone.

I have a tracking device on my car. Way back when I was in the army. Some of my infantry buddies would booby trap their cars (especially radios) with explosives. I never did this myself, since accidents do happen.
