Car shows around here are a joke. At every car show I go to I have people tell me they like my car best. At one show the guy next to me told me his kid liked my car best, yet in dozens of shows over 3 years I’ve never won an award. My favorite was earlier this summer at a small town car show. They had a trophy for Best Modern Car. They awarded it to a 1993 Nissan Skyline. Bwahahaha
You guys summed up my thoughts, that's why I don't do shows anymore... only cruise ins. At shows and cruises in my area, GM cars are the most popular, second is Mopar and Ford is actually third. Except for Mustangs, we don't see a lot of Falcons, Fairlane/Torinos or Galaxies. The current gen Challengers out-number the Mustangs and Camaros at shows and cruise ins here. I think it's great the owners of these take them to cruise ins, even as daily drivers like mine. I do have to mention that my 69 Camaro was white when I bought it, a very nice weekend cruiser but people would normally walk right past it at shows and cruise ins. In 2000 I had it painted Inferno Red (yup Mopar) and it's been like a magnet. 20 years later, people still stop to walk around it. I won a host of trophies and still get comments on how great it looks. Exterior color is a main attractor. I get the same comments on my B5 Blue - when getting gas, sitting in a parking lot (waiting on the wife), drive thru's, even at traffic lights.
