well after 2.5 years I was really tired of this stand alone chrome piece in the interior. plastic pry tool to pop the unit out, soap and water clean and dry, plastic primer followed by paint and walla whole new look the whole project took about an hour...Unfortunately I did not do step by step pics so will just narrate... step one is to remove the chrome piece. Use a plastic pry tool of some sort between the chrome and satin piece to gently pry to chrome piece up. There are eight tabs that hold the piece in place. I used a small plastic spatula for removing bubbles from stripes/window tint and it worked fine. step two is to prep the piece. I simply washed with warm soap and water and let it dry. some folks will recommend a light scuff with a fine grit sand paper as well. step three was simply to apply a base coat of primer..I used a basic rattle can primer for plastic. step four is to paint in desired color. I again used a simple rattle can to paint it. step five (optional) is to clear coat it in gloss or flat if desired step six is pop it back in place. Not much too it. Additionally if you want the option of returning it to it's stock appearance is to paint using plasti-dip which can be peeled off after applying. Hope that helps...
also anyone have a trim piece they wanna get rid of, i broke some of the tabs on its way out, pretty upset, its 2012, pretty sure that doesnt apply to trim tho
Thinking about doing this in Green around mine... I scratched it up pretty good with a vacuum hose...
