Did you ever meet the Mopar legends, Ronnie Sox and Dick Landy? I remember watching Ronnie Sox in his 1970 Hemi 'Cuda racing Grumpy Jenkins in his 427 Camaro. Those were real grudge races. Those highly tuned Pro Stocks were turning 9.50 sec. quarters at around 155 mph. It's amazing that, now, cars like the Demon can do this off the showroom floor. By the way, I think the sale of the track fell through. I passed it on a Saturday in October and cars were racing.
The former original owner of my car raced the car at atco. It was a 12 sec car all day long at that track. I buy it and bring it to Louisiana and it took me 3 years to get it in the 12’s. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Atco Dragway, the oldest drag strip in NJ, is finally closed. The 63-year old 180 acre track got a reprieve in 2022, when the township planning board rejected a previous proposed sale, from Insurance Auto Auctions, because the neighbors objected to its new intended use as a used car auction site. There were so many great races there. My favorite were the 9.5 sec. Pro Stock grudge matches between Ronnie Sox ('Cuda- 426) and Bill "Grumpy Jenkins" (Camaro- 427).
with electric cars taking over all you need is this race track and everyone can have one , that's all the kids will probably know ? lol
