12 years? That may qualify for the Guinness Book of World Records!

Speak of the devil, my AC/Delco GM battery just died today in the Trans Am after 4 years and 1 month. At least it happened at home. I was just about to replace it so it must have sensed something.

We had a running joke at our house for years that everyone should have their jump box or cables with them any time I was going to be out of town. Because almost without fail ... if i was in another city then either my wife or daughter was going to have a dead battery.

Yikes! Just picked it up at the dealership. $150 + tax. 42 month warranty Delco Gold they called it. It always seems to change but if I get 4 years out of it again, I'm good.

Did you pick up a Delco battery at a Mopar dealer? Anyway, the company that makes Delco batteries make other brands as well. Find out which other brands they make then see if when comparing like cca's and such which may be cheaper. Maybe this will stop any confusion.

My 2015 RT Plus has many electronic gizmos, changed the original battery in Feb. 2021 only because I didn't want to be left somewhere with a failed battery. Also had it done at dealer because I didn't want to fool around with possibly losing any data. The car is garaged all year and only had 19k miles on it.

Thanks for the info but you missed post #12 where I mentioned that my battery died in my Trans Am. Just a coincidence with my thread asking about Mopar batteries. I bought the Delco at the local Chevy dealer.

That's my thinking exactly. My 2020 is way too new at the moment but I'm asking to get a feeling about when that time comes. You did real well IMO with a 6 year life on the original. I doubt I would push mine quite that far but it's good to know. Mine is also low miles and in the garage. Thanks!

I bought my Scat Pack in April of 2016. It has 190,000 miles and is still on the original battery. Yesterday morning it started right up at -4 degrees.

My wife's BMW X1 was bought a month later, and is also still on the original battery, though it's been throwing some warning messages on really cold mornings.

Many of the newer OEM batteries are really pretty solid designs, and they last longer than the old flooded lead-acid types did.

With the changing weather in northern Ohio, it can go down to below zero F with wind chills well below that. Naturally this is when AAA gets the most calls for dead batteries.
Decades ago I got into the habit of replacing the batteries every 5 to 6 years even when they load tested okay. Last thing I wanted was my wife to get stranded with 4 kids in a parking lot. When my kids were older but still at home, we had 7 cars. 4-5 were scattered at colleges across the state. Did the same thing then and still do now.
I just replaced the batteries in a 2017 Audi A3, a 2017 Mazda CX9 and my 2015 Challenger. Don't want the wife or daughter to get stranded. $200 is little to pay for the peace of mind and "saving" the expense for another year or two wasn't worth the risk to me. You still have to shell the money out at some point.
