We see a couple of those running around Jacksonville on a regular basis. Pretty cool. As long as it's not behind you with the "Party Lights" turned on that is.

One of our Jacksonville Area Mopar group members has a daughter in the FHP. She was very excited to be assigned to one of the Challengers when the local Troop first got a couple of them.

I realize that these are highway patrol cars, but I question their practicality. I think that it is just the "cool factor." Challengers have only two-doors and a relatively small back seat. Back seats are usually used for arrests. Dodge Charger R/Ts are a better choice. They are just as fast as Challengers but provide 4-doors.

I can see using Challengers as unmarked cars, however.

I think this picture is from 2019 when the Challenger was added to the Troop. The picture was taken downtown with the Main Street Bridge in the background.

Obviously they're not going to be hauling people to jail in the Challenger ... but it's perfect for "traffic enforcement."

As Wizard said they’re not used for transporting offenders. I’ve seen Mustangs and Camaros used by highway patrol in NY. Italy has some Lambos. I wonder if they’re Hellcats.

Exactly, back up units (with 4 doors) are called if an arrest is made. FHP had many 5.0 Mustangs in the past and I also have seen LS1 Camaros, from 4th generation cars, 1998-2002.

These are speeding intercepting and fast response incident vehicles only same when they used Mustangs for decades...There is no cage in back they will get a Charger or other 4 door unit on scene for transportation.

Here in Florida they also use unmarked ones as well to catch speeders on the Interstate, turnpikes and cross town expressways.Several years ago when I worked for a Auto Air and Speedometer Shop we had to speed test the Mustangs and a couple of confiscated 2 Door as well as 4 door units.I did several Mustangs when we ran them on the Rollers we also would take them on the Road and do a time check with speedometer and odometer as well this required a Deputy in the Car for that test. This insured the accuracy soif they pulled over a speeder and they argued they would usually loose the case in court. There was Photos and Documented Calibration test.

I did Mustangs, Camaro's a Porsche 948 I was the only one at the shop that could drive Manual Transmission Cars, and a few other wild rides then the standard Crown Vic's, Mercury Marauder's which were sweet, Taurus, Chevy Caprices, Dodge Diplomat's. They did bring over a Lamborghini they confiscated how ever it would not sit proper over the rollers and they had to take it over to the Orlando Area for testing.

I can't remember which state the picture was from .... but I recently saw a Black Challenger or Charger with Black "ghost" graphics on it.

Kind of made it a "marked" "unmarked" vehicle.

Very good discussion guys, BUT..... they drilled a hole right through the trunk lid!!!!!
Yeah, it can get fixed but you would think with today's advances in tech there would be a better way.
Remember years ago there was a CB Antenna hinged mount that attached on the inside lip of the trunk opening. You could keep it hidden in the trunk and flip ip up when you wanted. Fit perfectly in the gap between the fender and quarter panel. (the old "no quality check" trunk lid gap)
