Funny you should ask.... In October, a Deer ran out of the trees, directly into the side of my 2010 M6 SRT It sat in the Body Shop until January During that time, I developed lower back and leg pain and ended up going to the Dr., Chiropractor and Acupuncturist. The pain continued to get worst. Now comes the funny part. Mid January I started driving SRT again and my Leg pain went away. About mid February, my Back Pain has also subsided. I really love my SRT Seats, and 3rd petal.
I have not developed any issues over the years and I have owned many manual trannys. I did hurt my left knee at work once and the pain lasted for nearly 1 year. It actually prevented me from buying a new manual tranny car. Once I was OK again, I bought the manuals again. I've liked having both type cars in my garage. If I know I'm headed to heavy traffic in Atlanta, no way is my 5 speed Mustang the car I will take. Some of my manuals over the decades from living in FL to NC, including my current '07 GT/CS. Two 4 speed Fiats ('69 850 & '73 128) from the 70's when I had no $$$. 1980 Datsun 280ZX w/ a 5 speed. 1982 Mustang GT w/ 4 speed (my first 'new' car). 1994 Ford Escort GT w/ 5 speed (lemon). 1995 993 911 w/ 6 speed (dream car for 3 years but too expensive to maintain).
There have been a couple of times when I've been caught in stop-and-go-and-stop traffic on the interstate and my knee let me know that it wasn't happy ... but nothing excruciating. However ... about 6 months ago I ended up getting drug across the road in a dog walking incident. Our 115lb Lab/Dane/Hound mix really doesn't like cats! The nasty road rash on my arm and a very banged up left knee scared my wife pretty good when I came in the house dripping blood. The knee damage kept me out of my Challenger for a few weeks.
My physio therapist suspects a meniscus tear from playing ice hockey twice a week (not a result of clutch use). We have a treatment plan which should get me back on the ice more safely within weeks. Also waiting an MRI date to have a more complete picture. Still able to use clutch!
