I’ve been having issues opening and locking my sxt. Especially on chilly temperatures. The buttons that lock and the unlock the doors sometimes takes a few efforts to work. The ignition is also given me trouble as well. It always starts when I push the button with the fob. It seems to work better when its warmer. Is this a problem with my fob or car? Also the locks on the fob do the same thing. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

How old is the battery in your fob? I see that you have a 2018 SXT. Probably, the key fob battery has never been changed and is 4 years' old. You should replace it every 3 years.

A colder temperature causes chemical reactions to proceed more slowly, so a battery used at a low temperature produces less current than at a higher temperature. As cold batteries run down they quickly reach the point where they cannot deliver enough current to keep up with the demand. If the battery is warmed up again it will operate normally.

Here is a DIY thread on how to change your key fob battery. You can buy batteries cheaply on E-Bay. You need a CR2032.

In my case it was the $ store batteries not lasting long (using the key set's off alarm until I start the car which get's peoples attention). Anyone know where the mechanism which the fob activates is located (for door lock/unlock?) My BMW fob's recharge while inserted and have never had an issue (not sure if they have a replaceable battery).

I live in Minnesota. If I have my fob in my jacket pocket while outside for a while when it's cold, it won't work. I have to warm it up first.
