I have heard it will be gone around 2015 as they plan to replace it with the Cuda? Is there more confirmed information and a date now?

At this time, it is just rumor. Also, it will be a Barracuda (not 'cuda) because Dan Gurney owns the rights to the 'cuda name and doesn't like Chrysler very much.

So 2015 is the last year of the SRT-8 Challenger at least in it's current bodystyle?
Some of us like big powerful comfortable riding muscle cars. Otherwise there is always the bumpy rattle your brains out Mustang which I am tired of because of these torn up roads.

Rumor has it that the 2nd gen Challengers are only going to have the same run as the 1st gen Challengers had. About 5 years. So hang on to yours and appreciate it.

I am guessing that you don't count the 1978-1983 Challengers as second gen?

Either way (second gen/third gen) each generation has had a five year run.

The first gen had a production of less than 170,000 units....over five years. Our generation will probably be close to that number as well.

What is disturbing to me is that the 78-83 Dodge (Mitsubishi) Challenger probably had the highest production run of all three gens. It sickens me to say that

You are right about the 78-83 Challenger. I guess most of us think of them as Mitsubishi not Dodge.

It's the same with the Dodge Charger in 1982 it had a 2.2 engine. Front drive also. I didn't even know about the 78-83 Mistsubishi but now I remember and they looked like Japanese cars. Didn't even give them a thought. 1970 is the real challenger but even better the current model is best.:chewie:
