This topic might have been discussed many times before but couldn’t find answer by searching.

Just want to know if anyone have issue with 20x9.5 wheels on their v6 models.

Thinking about getting 20x9.5 HC2 wheels on all four with 275/40 tires.

    Thanks in advance.

You can go with a 20x9 wheel with a 20 offset, front and rear, with a 275/40-20 tire. You can then rotate them. (Note- The SRT engineers previously recommended a maximum width of 245 for the front because anything wider may rub under extreme cornering).

I, however, like the "old school" staggered look and have 245/45-20s on the front and 275/40-20s (with 9-inch wheels) on the rear of my 2009 SRT.

I'm running 315/35/20s in back on 20x11 and 275/40/20 in front on 20x9.5. Depends on the offset.

Thank you. Can I read this as 20x9.5 with +18 won’t work on my SXT?

What offset are you running on yours?

Not sure, but I bought my wheels from Merrick Motorsports, and I know it has the offset on their website.

I wonder how much different the AWD Challenger wheels are from the SXT.

I am thinking of getting an AWD GT Challenger, same color as the Hellcat for a familail resemblance, but something I would actually drive in the winter, and putting some Hellcat-sized wheels on it, but the offset is evidently larger. It would not do to have the wheels hanging out of the fenders front AND rear. That would be kind of foolish-looking.

What IS the offset of the 9" wide stock AWD wheels? The larger offset is something for which I've been searching the internet.

Does anyone know or do I have to start a new thread with the question in the title?

So far what I've discovered is that a 38mm offset, instead of the 18mm of stock wheels, is what is used, for a 9" wheel.

Thus, for a 9.5" wide wheel, with 12.7mm greater overall width, one would want 6.35mm more offset IF one wanted the tire centered the same. However, if one were to want the tire to just protrude more in the outward direction, one could go with a 38mm offset wheel, which would push the outside of the wheel another 12.7 mm further from hub face, as the wheel is 12.7mm wider on either side of center with an unchanged offset distance from hub to center of wheel.

Now THAT is from what I've gleaned with some searching.

If you start with a flat disk with zero offset, a 6" wide wheel with -3" of offset would yield a wheel whose entire width now protrudes 6" from the hub plane. It would have to have 1" off offset to have 2" of wheel outboard of the center and 4" of wheel inboard of the center.

If it had 3" of offset, the entire wheel would be inboard of the hub plane, a lot like dually wheels.

A 9" wheel with 38mm of offset has an extra 38mm of wheel inboard of the hub plane compared to a zero-offset wheel, and 38" less of outboard wheel compared to the hub plane, which indicates that the AWD system adds 20mm to each side's width. In THEORY, a 245mm-wide wheel would have the hub way out flush with edge of outside of wheel if it had a 122.5mm offset.

a 9" wide wheel, 228mm nominally, would need 114mm off offset to put hub plane flush with outside edge.

But, anyway, the recommended wheels for the 9" rims are 245mm tires, which means 122.5mm minus 38mm (84.5mm) so the edge of the tires' nominal width protrudes 84.5mm from the hub plane.

With a Hellcat, with 18mm off offset, the 275mm wide tires, nominally, would protruded 137.5-18mm from the hub plane, or 119.5mm, which is 35mm more than the AWD GT, so, in theory, the AWD GT with 15mm narrower (per side of tire) tires, is 20mm further from the inside of the fender lip than the Hellcat's front tires.

But, the real world may not agree with such conjectures.

The hellcat is 20mm less offset for a 275mm wide tire. I think it's safer to just try to center the Hellcat wheel width in the tire space by using some appropriately-offset aftermarket wheels, as, to my knowledge, no one makes MINUS 20mm spacers...
