Hello all. What is the normal operating temp for a 2010 SRT8? Normal everyday driving? NO pedal to the medal.... lol Also, why does the check engine light continue to come on even after changing out the thermostat. I keep getting the error code for the thermostat. thx
200-230 is normal. Are you getting a P0128 trouble code? If so, it could be caused by the wrong thermostat (i.e., a 180 degree instead of a 205 degree OEM). The coolant temperature may not be reaching the predicted engine coolant temperature within the specific time. Other causes could be any of the following: Faulty Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor Engine Coolant Temperature sensor harness is open or shorted Engine Coolant Temperature sensor electrical circuit poor connection Also, check out this video about engine overheating.
Now this is something I had never imagined a car would "alert" on. I thought they were just intent on "too hot" more than "too cool." But, yeah, "too cool" is also bad, especially for fuel mileage.
