Here is an interesting article on Hemi octane requirements. Dodge HEMI Octane Requirements | eHow.com
I came .. I saw... I read... and I call BS (In My Experience!) Quote: Base Hemi- Automatic Tansmission The standard or "base" Hemi engine has a slightly lower compression than the SRT8 performance version. When the Hemi is matched with an automatic transmission, Chrysler recommends 89 octane fuel for peak performance. 87 octane is the minimum octane rating listed for the base Hemi regardless of transmission, but for the best mileage and performance, the higher-octane recommendations should be followed. End Quote. I'm tellin' ya... anybody that wants to listen (or not! LOL)... when I fill my Ram truck up with 93 octane it GOES AND BREATHES! With 89... it is sluggish by the end of the tank. Just sayin'...
My Ram runs better on 93 than anything. I have a 5.9L in it. I always run 93 in my Challenger also, even though the manual says 89 is okay.
