In case anyone is curious why rear 4-piston Brembo brake pads do not sweep the entire surface of the rotor (about 75%), as in previous years, here is the answer. In 2020, Dodge specified smaller J-shaped pads with the SRT brake package (BR4 and BR7) to reduce noise complaints from customers about squeaking brakes. Here is the official explanation: Here is the new J-shaped brake pad:
If they used no brake pads or brakes at all, the complaints about brake noise will completely disappear. What a BAD idea.
Agree, not a good idea, but it probably still has just as much braking force as the standard brakes......just with the Brembo name. I did notice the smaller swept area on my 2020 Redeye when I got it....but when I put power stop pads on it, the larger swept area came back, and I have tons less brake dust to deal with.
if I remember right there was a service bulletin on the 08 srt's something about the front rotors turning sharp the rotor would barley at times rub the control arm can not remember all the particulars on it though i think to solve the problem was to turn the brake rotors down a little ?, it was not a recall .
There is a company, maybe racing brake corporation? that makes pads with even more contact area than stock. That's the road I would prefer to go.
