    Hello all.

    Why does my car take like 20 minutes after I start driving to start throwing out heat in the car? My wifes camaro 2017 starts throwing it out about 3-5 minutes after coming on.

    I get to work around 15 minutes after I leave the house and then i feel the heat.

    Your thermostat is probably defective and is opening too soon. Also, did you ever replace the factory thermostat with a lower 185 degree one?

    Some signs of a cold-running engine are higher emissions, poor fuel economy and sludge in the oil pan.

    I just replaced it and i think it was a 185?

    A 185 degree thermostat will open much sooner than an OEM one that is set for 205 degrees.

    Also, it may adversely affect emissions.

    You may want to replace it with a OEM one for your car. "If" you went for aftermarket they sometimes are different, plus the OEM one is in conjunction with when to turn on your radiator fans .

    I use propylene glycol and no water for coolant. I put a Mishimoto 205-degree thermostat in my friend's truck. It keeps the thermostat right at 205 on the gauge and by not boiling to a useless blanket of steam like ethylene glycol/water, it cools the hottest parts of water jacket the propylene glycol actually cools the hottest parts of the engine more effectively.

    Also, the temps are below "emergency freakout" levels, though the truck does have a little crisis of emergency OMG transmission overheat of OMGness after I go through a very thorough spray-only wasch with nozzles under the truck and over it until I drive down the road a bit and the affected wiring connector, evidently, gets dry enough not to send a DefCon V alert and shut off the OD and cause the clutch fan to go into shriek-and-freak mode to hypercool the not-too-warm motor.

    Also, just fixed a leak found behind the turbo on some litle L-shape hoses evidently common on that era of Dodge truck as they did not use high-temp silicone on the hoses and they got kind of hard and did not seal the greatest. Considering the condition of the various steel cooling system components, thank God PG has no elecrtrolytic properties and is nonconductive and I use no pressure, as any leaks that would have been bad under 14 PSI are now nonexistent with the new little silicone tubes.

    But, I digress from THE most beautiful five-passenger car ever from the USA, no, from the entire world.

    I am looking at getting another Challenger now to add to the garage, among other things.
