A rare, pre-production “Pilot Line” 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 will be auctioned at the Mecum Indy Fall Special 2024 auction on October 5th. With an odometer reading just 9,374 miles, this one-owner vehicle holds unique significance in Challenger history. This particular car was part of Chrysler Corporation’s Fast Feedback S2 Pilot program, an initiative designed to identify and resolve production issues before the vehicle’s public release. Originally assigned to a Chrysler executive, the Engineering VP responsible for the 2008 Challenger program, this Challenger was used for validation and certification before being updated for sale. The executive later purchased it after the testing process was complete. Production-built vehicles feature a serialized First Edition dash plaque, with build numbers ranging from 0001 to 6324. However, this pre-production vehicle was numbered 0000 of 6440, signifying that it was built prior to the official production run. This rare distinction makes it a collector’s item. This car has over 5,000 miles than mine, and i ordered all three options on (2) orange and (1) black from (3) different steelerships. They still look cool. IMO
