I watched that one, weren't they all tested beyond their limits? I used to watch a lot of his video's but like all YouTubes they get old after a while. I like watching Peter Santello, although it has nothing to do with mechanics.
All those plastic ramps look like they were made in the same factory in China. The metal ones look the same, too. I remember years ago my dad got a set of metal ramps that looked like the ones in the video and they turned out to be pieces of crap. We ended up welding steel pipes down each side, to give them some strength and to keep them from sliding around. Personally, I use a floor jack and jack stands. I think that works the best.
I use metal ramps with extensions with no problems. I cannot use a floor jack because I no longer have a garage and my driveway is on a very steep angle. The jack wheels would move.
So do you use the ones that have a bottle jack built in? I use the plastic ones, Rhino Ramps. I was going to get a 2 post lift, but decided my shop would be a little to small for that.
I use these metal rams, with plastic extensions. They provide just enough clearance. They are heavy and rated for 6,000 lbs.
I have the two piece long ramps as well. It's nice to pull the back half to give more room once the car is up. Mine slid away on my epoxy floor. I solved this by putting some rubber door mats underneath.
