Like the title says this has been one long crazy trip to get here. I was 15 when I saw my first Challenger up close they were then and are still to a point rare in this part of kentucky. The first one I saw was a black 72 nothing special I think it had a 318 in it but the car was awesome. I think alot of it's appeal was it was so differnt than the camaros and the mustangs that were on every corner. The fact that my parents owned a charger didnt hurt any .
I tried pleaded and begged to buy this Challenger only to be told " not for sale " that turned into " IF I do I will let you know first ." Two weeks before I turned 16 they sold the Challenger, that was the end of that.
Now some 30 years later as a lark I see my red Challenger , the wife says lets take a look. I was hooked from the first touch , a month later the youngest sons honda died so I put a price on my monte carlo as a joke . He owns the monte now and I finally got the Challenger.
I guess the saying about things changing is true , the Challengers still have that wow factor the goslows and mudstains are still on every corner .
I have a 2012 SXT with the V6 , I got the 6 because I drive 70 mile round trip to work and the hemi would have killed me with donating to the state via speeding tickets! The best part of all of this is I was actually considering the new Dart because of the long drive , my wife looked at me and said " get the one that has some balls , get the Challenger " I replied yes Maam.
