Effective July 1, 2025, Florida has a "super speeder" law. Drivers who exceed the speed limit by 50 m.p.h. or more, or drive 100 m.p.h. or faster on any road, are subject to heightened penalties.

Violating the “super speeder” law can lead to 30 days in jail and a $500 fine for a first offense, which is considered a criminal traffic offense rather than a civil citation, as in the case of a normal speeding ticket. Stiffer penalties are provided for repeat offenders.

Good for Florida, all 50 states need to do this. there is a place called race tracks where you can let the horses run, where i am from the kids take over the streets in the early mornings here and there is death sometimes too.

Here is the opposite. Fines for going too slow in Louisiana.

Motorists will face higher fines for driving below the speed limit in the left lane of a Louisiana highway starting Friday.

A new state law, Act 24 from this year’s legislative session, will require a person driving less than the speed limit to stay in the furthest right lane of a multilane highway. People driving in the left lane must be either passing another vehicle or turning left off the road.

Current law only requires drivers to stay in the righthand lane if they are driving at least 10 mph below the speed limit. Sen. Jay Luneau, D-Alexandria, sponsored the new statute and said the current restriction has been difficult to enforce and is rarely used.

He hopes the new requirements will garner more compliance.

His new law will also increase traffic fines for people driving too slowly in the left lane. The penalty is going from $100 or up to 30 days in jail to $150 for a first offense, $250 for a second offense within a year of the original offense and $350 or up to 30 days in jail for a third offense within a year of the original offense.

It doesn't really matter what laws get passed, without enforcement they are going to be pointless. There usually are existing laws that cover what "new" laws are supposed to help with, just the police officers are not interested in articulating why it's a violation of the law. They and the public feel the need to have a law that specifies something and all the officer has to do is say they saw "X" and that is the violation. Cell phone laws are the worst, every jurisdiction has careless driving or driver inattention laws that will cover cell phone use, but it requires the officer to articulate why being on the cellphone was careless, such as weaving, crossing lines, erratic speed changes, etc. The public seems to think that having a law that all the officer has to do is say they saw you holding a cell phone and that is what makes the violation, no matter if you were driving perfectly. The "super speeder" law can be addressed simply by changing the fine structure of the current speeding laws, usually there are set speed ranges for certain fines, simply make going 30+ (just a random number) a much higher fine and you don't need an additional law. They do this because they can't articulate addition information to bump the speeding to reckless driving (usually speed alone is not a "reckless driving" violation, there has to be something else with it, it just has to be articulated, such as heavy traffic, pedestrians in the area, frequent animal crossings, some jurisdictions would probably even accept a passenger in the vehicle speeding X over the limit because the driver is endangering the passengers life). Just my $0.02 worth. Mostly because I'm tired of new laws all the time.

We need this in Michigan also. There are way too many idiots that think they are privileged on the roads around here.

Ah, yes, the same state that had police lounging outside while children were slaughtered in a school brings you this latest asssult on "Freedom of movement."

I wonder if they plan to require extra-large penises to be registered as Assault Penises if they are cpable of firing one round more than once per hour. Maybe more penalties if they resemble a Mean Black Rifle?

I marvel at the continued money-grabs of the greedier states.

Meanwhile in the Northern states, I believe it is Wyoming or Nebraska, guys street race with the tacit approval of the local law enforcement.

There are lots of states in this country. You can choose to live in any of them. I note that zero states have a death penalty for raping children.

That tells you what you need to know about the politicians in the USA.

Politicians are not in the habit of penalizing that which they practice. As you WELL know, this is ANY of the political parties, or divisions of the uniparty.

People don't exist to serve the government. Even Jesus himself said "The sabbath was created for man, not man for the sabbath."

With a nice drone you can go with your buddies out in the middle of a wide open state and do a quick scout 360 degrees and dirve as fast as God says you can. :D

    God forbids what is deadly.
    Satan forbids what is normal.
