Hood pins look cool and very "old school." However, I would avoid installing lanyards. They rub against the paint and, eventually, will wear it off. How do I know? It happened on my 1971 'Cuda.

You may get around this by installing 3M protective vinyl on the edge of the hood. Amazon sells small sheets for around $10. Or, as an alternative, you can install fake stick-on hood pins.

I like the 3M tape idea. Good advice.

I have a T/A 392 and I will be putting the hood pins on it; its a matter of how the original T/A looked.

I am using fake hood pins myself.
But, the down side is that the company that makes then does a CRAPPY job of paint quality.
The paint kept chipping and peeling too easily.
I got tired of touching them up!

    The solution is below!

My '70 Challenger had factory hood pins. I am considering having them added to my 2016 R/T. BTW....That '70 T/A is absolutely badass. Dodge only made less than 3000 of them, just enough to see one every now and then, back in the day.

I just bought a 2017 TA 392 and I am considering putting the lanyards on but I am concerned about the paint getting scuffed up over time. These lanyards are coated but, I suspect they will damage the paint. Thoughts?

I'm on the same boat as you are; I also have a '17 T/A and i also want to add the pins, but my concern is the paint rubbing from the lanyards. Yes, they're coated, but there will still be ruboff on the paint.

    *le sigh*

Either install the hood pins without the lanyards or cover the area where they make contact with the edge of the hood with clear 3M protective tape.
