The June 10, 2013 issue of Autoweek has stated that the new 6.2 Hellcat engine is expected to debut in the next-generation Challenger due in 2014 as a 2015 model (and perhaps other vehicles). The supercharged engine is expected to approach the power levels of the Viper's 640 hp. and will allow the Challenger to compete with the Mustang Cobra and Camaro ZL1.

60K no doubt. I'd love to be able to swing that. Better start saving now!

At least 60K. Would be nice though.

Actually, as I look around for that kind of horsepower, 60K is a dream. We'll probably see this bad boy for 80-90K. Waaaaay out of my price range. :-(

On another forum, a member asked Ralph Gilles about the horsepower of the Hellcat. He replied that "it's gonna blow the competition away." When asked if it blow away the GT500, "he gave me that look and nodded yes."

If the GT500 has 663 hp and the ZL1 has 580, does this mean that the Hellcat will have more than 663 hp?

I've always said that I wish the Challenger had been about 7/8ths scale to what it actually is, in both size and weight. Any progress in that direction will be most welcome, if they don't butcher the car's styling in the process...

Also, the Gen3 HEMIs should all have had aluminum blocks right from the first day they began installing them in cars (vs the truck engines). As it is now, they're almost boat anchors in comparison to the alloy LSs and the coming LTs. There's currently just too much weight in the Challenger and in the HEMI...JMO
