When I am sitting in my 2013 Challenger R/T in the garage without the key even near the car, I hear a very quiet electric motor of some kind cycle. It does this once , then in about 5 minutes will do it again. I thought it could be me sitting in my power drivers seat and my weight on it with the engine not running made the seat lower itself because WHEN the engine is running it keeps it powered up & holds the weight of a person, however the seat is not moving at all & the sound seems to be coming from inside the dash somewhere. A different day I was outside of the car in the garage the other night kneeling down on the garage floor looking under the passenger seat with the door open and I heard it again. Now I know it wasn't the driver seat motor. Does anyone else hear this in their Challengers ? mine is a 2013 challenger R/T plus with automatic transmission with paddle shifters and sport mode. ( not sure if this info. makes a difference or not ) It also doesn't matter if the car was driven recently OR has sat for several days without the keys being in the car Could this be something that gets activated when you open a door ? it is very quiet when it comes on & lasts about 5 seconds. I will sit in the car in the garage where it is very quiet looking over the owners manual etc. and the key is in the house and about 30 feet away through the garage walls. I would like to know if this is normal and just the cars computers checking car functions & not something that will slowly drain the battery over time.

Yes, this is normal. I haven't read the exact reason why this does this, but I did read about it once, but forgot to memorize it to be an authority. Yes, it will drain your battery along with the radio being on all the time to power the clock. I didn't drive my car for 3 months and it went dead. Luckily my door was open so I could pop the hood and charge it. Maybe it is the computer checking things out. At first I thought it was the intake doors closing, but you are right. If you wait long enough it will happen again. Perhaps it is a safety feature to pump a little air in the car so someone or an animal won't suffocate. I think that would be wishful thinking.
