Budget Car Show Stand & Poster

When you take your Challenger to most car shows, it is judged on appearance and presentation.

To help judges at car shows better understand your car and for spectators to learn more about your car, it is necessary to have a car poster and display stand advertising your car's equipment. However, these stands and posters can be pricey.

I thought of a way to accomplish this for under $50.

    Here's how.

    1. I purchased a tabletop easel from Michael's craft store and reversed the hinges and relocated the molding that holds the bottom of the art. This was necessary to change the easel from a "landscape" to a "portrait" configuration. I then painted it satin black.

    2. I purchased a 20" X 30" poster frame from Michael's (with black molding).

    3. I prepared a poster on my computer using Word. I got several format ideas from: http://customcarshowposters.com/
I chose a black background and used orange text to list the features of my Challenger under the categories of: Engine, Drivetrain, Brakes, Wheels/Tires, Steering/Suspension, Exhaust, Performance, and Appearance Modifications. I also downloaded several manufacturer logos.

    4. I brought the flash drive to Staples and had it printed on 20" X 30" photographic paper.

I thought that it came out great. It makes a good winter project.

That is a great idea. And you have time to put one together before show season.

Excellent idea. I'm surprised Staples printed that poster with the Mopar and other logo's. I like the reverse hinge idea. One thing I would probably add to mine (since I think I'll do the same thing) is a small piece of aluminum to lay flat on the ground and secure the sign from the wind (yes, I'm in Oklahoma).

    Excellent idea!

I forgot to mention that the poster is secured to the stand with Velcro (it came with the easel). Also, the wood stand is fairly heavy and would be hard to tip over.

I got the idea of using the logos from samples on the customcarshowposters.com web site. Apparently, they will print anything.

Not when you live in an area where an EF-2 tornado is considered just a notch or two above being breezy :)

Glad to know Staples will print with the logo's and such! Would you have a model number or UPC for that easel? I tried searching for Artist Loft and easel and found a lot but none that looked like that one.

That's a great idea. One more thing I need to look into.
