Motor Authority is reporting that Plum Crazy will be available on all models in 2016. The article also has statistics on the number of Challengers that have been painted with high impact colors for each year of production. For example, there have been 14,801 Challengers painted hemi-orange (4,092- 2008, 6,092- 2009, 3,514- 2010 and 1,103- 2013). Dodge Bringing Back Plum Crazy, Releasing High-Impact Colors Production Figures
We heard about it here a while ago ( unofficially of course). I wonder if it will have more metal flake in it like they did with the sublime. There is a local young lady that has a 2014 Plum SRT8 that is just nuts about the color. Heck she even does her finger nails and has plum streaks in her hair. When she heard about the 2016 coming in Plum she just about cried as she was told 2014 was the last year and likes the new style a lot more. Oh well, thats the way Dodge is when it comes to the impact colors. lol
That's what happened with Hemi-orange. Originally, it was only supposed to be for the first year- 2008. Because Dodge could not meet the demand it was continued for 2009. That should have been it. However, to sell more cars, Dodge also offered it in 2010 and 2013. As a result, 14,801 Challengers have been painted this "limited" color, instead of only 4,092 SRTs in 2008. Owners of 2008 SRTs were not happy with Dodge going back on its word.
I got lucky with my Detonator Yellow it was on the 07 Charger Super Bee's first then 2010 Challengers R/T and SRT models and in 2012 they made it Stinger Yellow on the SRT Yellow Jacket which side by side is darker than the Detonator Yellow. Supposedly the Rumble Bee truck paint code is the same but when I tried it in an inconspicuous spot it was darker.
