Here is a good example of power-to-weight and reaction time.

An automatic 340 Demon, with 4.10 gears took on a Challenger Hellcat.

Although the 707 hp. Hellcat had almost 3X the hp., it lost a drag race. Why? Poor driver reaction time and a 1,261 weight disadvantage. The Demon ran a 12.35 sec. @108.91 mph, while the Hellcat ran a 12.39 sec. @ 119.01 mph.

We've been through this before. They left at the same time but the cat lost traction while the Demon did not (mysteriously) despite being on those skinny bias ply rear tires.

You have to admit that the Demon ran a great time of 12.35 sec. @108.91 mph. That why the 340 engine was known as the "giant killer" at the track.
