Yet another lack of knowledge post however here goes. Reading in the manual it states to check fluids regularly which I have and have followed break in as close to the letter as possible. The manual states some oil usage during break in is normal but when cold I am still dead nuts perfect on the oil dipstick. However after around 750 miles I have noticed from a standstill from park to drive reverse to drive etc i get a much harder shift than i was getting previously on other cars ive owned this happened sometimes because the fluid was low. However I know the process for this car to check is a bit more involved and should be done within certain temp range and ideally on a lift to ensure the car is level etc. Did anyone else not use any oil in break in and has anyone experienced harder shifts after initial break in? I will be going in for first oil change soon and will have the dealer check fluids but just polling the crowd here first.

Remind us what you’re driving again....is it an A8 or M6?

Haven't hit my first oil change yet, and haven't noticed anything unusual with the trans yet.

Yes you are correct it is an A8 I am at 1100 miles so not fully broken in but out of the baby stages... at around 750 miles I noticed the shift from park to drive and from reverse to drive or reverse to park started to jolt a bit much like when you go from park to drive when on an incline

Does your car have programmable drive modes? If so, what mode are you using?

Interesting that it's harsh in Auto as well. I know the ECM has learning capabilities so that could explain why some parameters would have changed since new. The car gets to know how you drive and adjusts for it. Years ago when I was active in the field, that harsh engagement was controllable through programming. Would assume it still is.
