Insiderevs reported that Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares has promised Dodge's upcoming electric muscle car will produce a "shocking" sound. Are you ready for artificial sound? The executive says the Dodge team is working on creating a sound worthy of accompanying the brand's new age of performance. According to the company's market research cited by Tavares, younger consumers in their 30s are open to the idea of electric muscle. As the Hellcat era comes to a close, the unmistakable sound of the supercharged V8 has to be replaced by something equally visceral, Stellantis' CEO suggested during a media roundtable Tuesday attended by Automotive News. "We are creating a sound that you cannot imagine. It's something that is shocking. After they create the sound, they are thinking about how they make the sound louder and more powerful in function of the way you are using the car."
Weird. The new EV Challenger will have fake sound, but the performance to back it up. I hope it sounds better than these. Tesla Model S with SoundRacer Ferrari V12 sound - YouTube
I personally wouldn't want a fake sound. To me thats like putting a Hemi or Scatpack etc. emblem on a v6. If I'm going to have an electric I'd go with whatever sound it makes.
So… you pull up to a light… square off with a ‘Vette or a 911… race the engine… and the car plays “Sweet Talkin’ Lady’s Man” ?????
Hah, that's good. Yeah, I was just being sarcastic, getting tired of the EV doom and gloom theorists. Its gonna happen when it happens but at age 66 I think I'll be able to still get gas for my 69 Camaro and 15 Challenger until I'm too old to drive.
Agreed. I’m 63 and at the rate I’m putting miles on my car it’s liable to last me the rest of my life!!!
