    Good Day all,
I am new to the forum. I am having an issue with my 2009 3.5L Challenger and am looking for any help.

    These are the known:
    new starter
    new battery
    non-factory cold air intake
    Diablo tuned
recent tune-up of coil packs and plugs
    recent oil change

    unknowns:
slight lifter knock/ injector knock upon start-up (goes away when car drives a very short distance .5 miles)
    last time alt. was changed

    Symptoms:
when the car becomes hot, the car will not start. It is almost like a vapor lock. I have to let the car sit for approx. 15 minutes and when it does start, she is a little sluggish until I can put some RPM's behind her. Then she is fine. This did not happen when I lived in Buffalo, but since I moved to Florida it has started doing this when the temperature gets over 80 degrees.

If I hook my jump box up to it, I can usually get her start quicker, under 10 minutes.

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

See if you can check the fuel pressure when it's hot. You may have a weak fuel pump. They are more likely to fail when hot.

SRT-Tom --- there are no error codes. I have scanned the vehicle as well, both by a home unit and one at a garage. No error codes. I appreciate the response.

Niles --- I will attempt this.

OK.. so here is an update to the situation. Fuel pressure is great....I did notice when it reaches temps outside of over 90, this occurs. I did talk with my brother (diesel Mech) and he stated it sounds like the ignition module is getting to hot and messing with the ECM. I just dont know where the ignition module is. I searched the internet and the only thing I found was that it may be part of the ECM. Can anyone provide more insight, so I may check this path of the issue?

Hi there, i had a customers 09 dodge avenger in my shop a few years ago and it did the same thing you are speaking about, we wound up replacing all of the injectors and to this day with over 100,000 miles on it , that fixed the problem. when it set hot the injectors would leak down into the cylinders and actually flood the engine out in a hot contidion.
