Are they really going to do this and replace it with a cuda? Bad idea IMO. The challenger will continue to sell each and every year. Does anyone have sales reports for the last couple of years for the challenger? I bet they are still doing ok.
The sales are improving every year, but sales is not why the change. If I read everything correctly, the CAFE standards are changing in 2015, meaning the car manufacturers are going to have to meet tougher standards for fuel efficiency and emissions. The Challenger is built on the LX platform along with the Charger and the 300. To meet those new standards, the platform will be redesigned smaller. From what I read, it is believed that the Challenger is designed to be a reflection of the early models and to redesign it would not make it a Challenger any more, but something else. Hence the end of the Challenger.
