Hood scoop questions

    If all you want is to cool the engine bay and not covert to a cold air intake, it would not be a big job. Like the "functional" twin hood scoops on the standard hood, the opened vent would reduce air temperatures under the hood by about 15 degrees. This would help to avoid heat soak at the track.

    By the way, your hood blanket serves three purposes:

    1. Engine noise reduction.
    2. Insulator for hood's paint.
    3. Fire control (supposedly, in an engine fire, the plastic push pins melt allowing the blanket to fall and smother the fire).

    You pop out the center first then the outer portion. I’ll look for a couple of pics or vids on you tube for a better example. You can buy a tool just for the removal of them or get a flat head screw driver that’s got a good sharp point but other then that I’d have too see what type of push pins you got.
