Just joined...I brought home a new Challenger GT AWD, TorRed exterior with Ruby red/black interior looking to install a CAI, any recommendations?
AFE GT Momentum makes a fully inclosed true CAI plus buy the hellcats tubing that attaches to the front of the box through the headlights left assembly. There is a pop out center of the Halo light that gets you a forced cold air (ambient air from outside the engine compartment). This together would be a good start. Or you could just do Mopar. . Just a sample video of the ram forced intake.
Your stock air box is a closed system pulling air from lower front portion of the box. It's already sealed off from the hot engine bay better than most CAI's. Unless you're going to go with the Hellcat-like setup, stay with stock since the very minimal performance gain might not be worth the investment. Of course .... I'm tempted to put in a CAI simply because I think it's a cool appearance mod.
you can actually relocate your filter right behind the lower grille. I did that with my 2009 and it was pulling cool air from there. it takes some plumbing but it can be done.
Being from the northeast and wanting to drive my Challenger year round, I opted for the AWD. I wish it came with the 5.7 Hemi but had to settle for the 3.6. In the past I owed a 2010 Charger 3.5 AWD, I put on a R2C performance CAI and it made difference both in sound and performance at the higher RPMs, I then bought a 2014 Charger RT 5.7 AWD, I put on a K&N CAI and really didn't notice any difference. I like to put a R2C on this challenger but have been seeing a lot of negative posts related to customer service, in some cases people are waiting months for delivery. I am leaning towards the AFE GT momentum, they also have the tube which exits the halo light
