I have been looking at the site for a few weeks. You guys seem somewhat intelligent, so we will see how it goes. (That is a joke...but we will see how it goes.) I was able to rent a Challenger 5.7L for 10 days several months ago, and have wanted one ever since. So, I am hoping to get a recent model Challenger(2019+) in the next few weeks. As a general rule, my Chrysler/Dodge products seemed to fall apart at 60k miles. However, I drove a 2019 Challenger R/T with 67k miles on it and it drove like new. So perhaps I will have to change my opinion. Generally, I do not mod my cars in any way. But I do keep them clean and shiny and running well. Good will to everyone here.
"do not mod my cars in any way" Seriously? I love my Challenger, but half the fun is finding ways to IMPROVE on perfection Like the STOCK 245x45x20 Tires are great, but if you change them to 275x40x20 they are a little wider, and better handling. The Manual Stick is great, but Old-School is better And what the $ell were they thinking to put a Solenoid in the Transmission to force you to Shift from 1st to 4th at certain RPM's And take it to the Track at least twice
You may not want to do any performance mods, but there are many fun appearance things that you can do to personalize your Challenger. Hey, let the poor guy at least buy his Challenger before you start spending all his money! LOL! Joe, based on the comments above you'll see that you're not just buying a car, you're entering a hobby shared by a ton of car guys. One of the best things about the late model Challengers is that you can do as little or as much as you'd like. Everyone needs a hobby.
Those are some nice suggestions...I will keep them in mind. But, I think I will be happy with carbon fiber trim on the dash and some nice chrome wheels. Depending on the striping, I will probably add some carbon fiber vinyl. Car will be garaged, but I don't like what I hear/see about vinyl removal and such.
My first Cahllenger (‘11 RT Classic W/STP and a 6Spd ran like a top to 120000 mi. At which point a lifter failure all but killed it (it still ran ok, but was logging intermittent misfires). I did not hesitate to replace it with another Challenger. (‘17 R/T Scat Pack 6spd). That intermittent misfire was the only mechanical issue I had in 10 years of ownership. You are gonna love your new Challenger! Enjoy! And if you get a chance…Road trip it across the US. You wont regret it!
If you are getting a V8, it may thrill you to know that the 5.7L engine is such a good foundation for turbocharging that it will do over 1000 horses on a stock short block. (The rings may need to be gapped a bit more.) Such a good foundation for boost that the Drag Pak cars from Dodge at over 1500hp use 5.7 liters of displacement. Also, if you don't mind waiting for top revs for top performance, you could go with a centrifugal blower One of the beauties of boost is that you can tailor your boost applicator to keep torque levels relatively tame (unlike Hellcat freaks who put dime-size-ish top pulleys on their cars to get stupid levels of torque all across the rev range then whine and complain that they need beefier everything-after-the-motor to handle the torque.) Upgrade the valve springs, put a better engine damper on it, and enjoy stock-ish torque at higher-than-stock RPM, et voila! you have performance you want without having to buy an Eaton or Fuller Big Rig transmission or some of the stupidly-overpriced "everything after the motor" stuff for sale by the Hellcat Hucksters.
