Steve Strope's Pure Vision custom shop has built a gorgeous 1973 Challenger resto-mod, complete with a modern 392 engine, as a golf prize for the Charles Schwab Ultimate Challenge at The Colonial- a country club in Fort Worth, Texas.

The car had to be a ’73 Dodge Challenger, to play into the year Charles Schwab opened for business and the Schwab Challenge tournament name. Also, the colors needed to reflect the sponsor’s corporate medium-light-blue- and-white scheme.

Beautiful car! Only thing that sucks is the 3-speed trans.

yeah, I posted a pic of a resto mod here locally....a '66 polara....

Car was beautiful and very well restored, and they put a SRT8 6.1 engine in it......but left the 3 speed 727 behind it.

Would have been much nicer with the trans that was behind the engine me thinks.....

The whole point of a "resto-mod" is to retain the classic styling of the car but couple it with modern tech to optimize performance, comfort, safety and reliability. Leaving the original transmission makes it a rather half-assed effort IMO.

I think that he wanted to capture that old T-handle shifter look. He could, however, have done it with a modern T-shifter.
