An exciting rumor is that there may be a hardcore Challenger ACR, in 2021, to replace the discontinued American Club Racer Viper. Even though the Challenger ACR has already been presented, in 2011, at the SEMA Show with SRT8 goodies as a one-off concept, Dodge has failed to come up with a production model. From the factory, the Dodge Demon SRT is speed-limited to 168 mph. That's because the drag radial tires equipped from the factory aren't designed to go any faster. But, when you remove the speed limiter using the car's second power control module from the Demon crate and swap on some more high-speed capable tires, it can go faster. Much faster. This was first tested in February 2018, when a Demon owner took his car all the way up to 203 mph. in only 60 seconds, at the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds event in Florida. It’s 4/26/19- Hemi Day! Dodge has announced that the order books are now open for the “Hellephant”- Mopar’s supercharged 426 Hemi crate engine. Since the 2018 SEMA show, over 1,000 orders have been taken. The motor carries Part No. P5160194 with a price tag of $29,995. That translates to the low price of $29.99 per hp., a price that will be recognized as a relative bargain by anyone who has tried to achieve 1,000 horsepower on their own. What is a Challenger Hellcat Redeye? According to Steve Beahm, head of Passenger Car Brands-Dodge, SRT, Chrysler, and Fiat for FCA North America, “It's a Hellcat that's been possessed by a Demon." The new Challenger Hellcat Redeye boasts a supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi that generates 797 hp. and 707 lb.-ft. of torque. This makes it the most powerful and expensive ($69,650) production V-8 now that Dodge has stopped production of the Demon. Many do not know it, but Challengers, under Zombie Dodge/MBM Motorsports, have been competing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series of stock car races for the past six years. They have done this without factory support from Fiat Chrysler. Teams like MBM Motorsports sought out deals on old cars that bigger teams like Penske weren’t using anymore. This competition, sadly, ended in November 2018. When NASCAR starts back up, in February 2019, the Challengers will no longer be legal. NASCAR is moving from steel to composite bodies in the Xfinity series next year.
